MUSE NEWS Celebrate "The Four Seasons" January 20th At Muse Le Belle Artiste Gallery & Art Center Muse Le Belle Artiste Gallery and Holistic Art Center will host a reception for the first exhibition of the new year and the opening of "The Four Seasons" Sunday, January 20th, from 2 4 pm. Four women artists from Connecticut will be honored and their works featured in "The Four Seasons" exhibition: Catherine M. Elliott, Emine Cichowski, Anne Hebebrand, and Carol Frances Foley.
From 2:30 3:30 pm, the popular Willimantic Amphibian Jazz Ensemble will play the American Songbook of standards including Gershwin, Porter, Ellington and others in Swing style. Performing will be Joe Tomanelli, Windham Middle School music teacher, on the tenor sax and flute; Phil Palonen, Berkelee Jazz College graduate, on the guitar; Greg Yuska, owner of a Portland health care facility, on the piano; and Bruce Bellingham, retired UConn Music History Professor, on the double bass.
Catherine M. Elliott (www.catherinemelliott.com) is a contemporary artist whose work is evocative of the American Impressionistic style of painting. "I'm compelled to paint and bring light and color intimately together," she says. "My vision as an artist is to see and translate to the world the visual wonders of nature and to lift the spirit to a place of peace and contentment." Emine Cichowski (www.micaweb.com/purple/emine/emine.html) was born in the ancient village of Gemlik, Turkey, on the shores of the Sea of Marmara. Though trained as a pharmacist, she is now a full-time artist who draws on her rich life experiences to bring new perspectives to her pottery.
Anne Hebebrand (www.annehebebrand.com) is a German-born, Glastonbury, Connecticut-based artist who combines subtle color combinations and graphic detail to create contemporary works. Her oil paintings on paper and canvas are poetic expressions in color.
Carol Frances Foley ended a 20-year career in business after 9/11 to pursue her long-time passion for art. Since 2004, her work has been included in juried exhibitions, awarded prizes, published and purchased. Foley lives in Coventry, CT.
Muse Le Belle Artiste has changing exhibitions featuring works by primarily Connecticut artists and artisans and also offers yoga, tai chi, art and music classes.
